My Story
I’m Sharel Jones. Fourteen, I was drinking. Sixteen, cocaine. Twenty-four, heroin, because the memories were louder than I could handle. I spent 15–16 years addicted and homeless. I felt invisible. At 31, a judge and my sister dragged me into help. Recovery wasn’t pretty. It was possible!
Today I run IUSED2BU in the Bronx. We show up with hot meals, water, hygiene kits, and warm clothes. We sit, we listen, and when you say “I’m ready,” we don’t hand you a phone number, we walk you in. We ride with you. We check back. We don’t look away.
